Grupo ng mga guro nabahala sa panukalang drug test sa Gr.4 students

Ikinabahala ng isang grupo ng mga guro ang panukala ng Philippines Drug Enforcement Administration (PDEA) na isailalim sa mandatory drug testing ang mga Grade IV student pataas.

Ayon sa Teachers’ Dignity Coalition (TDC), masyadong bata ang mga target na estudyante ng PDEA.

Sinabi ni TDC National Chairperson Benjo Basas, ang planong ito ng PDEA ay mangangailangan ng pag-amyenda sa Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 kung saan nakasaad na ang drug testing ay maaring gawin para lamang sa mga mag-aaral na nasa secondary at tertiary.

Ani Basas, hihilingin nila sa Department of Educaton (DepEd) na huwag payagan ang naturang panukala ng PDEA.

Ayon kay Basas na isa ring public school teacher sa Caloocan City at may anak na 11-anyos na Grade V student, ang drug test sa mga bata ay maaring magdulot ng “anxiety”.
