Pagsala sa mga aplikante sa mababakanteng pwesto bilang Ombudsman inumpisahan na ng JBC
Sinimulan na ng Judicial and Bar Council ang panel interview sa mga kandidato para sa mababakanteng posisyon ng Ombudsman.
Unang mai-interview ngayong umaga sina Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III; Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Efren Dela Cruz; Atty. Edna Batacan; Atty. Rey Ifurung at Atty. Rainier Madrid.
Miyerkules ng hapon naman isasalang sa pagtatanong si Supreme Court Associate Justice Samuel Martires; dating Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice at kasalukuyang Special Prosecutor ng Ombudsman na si Edilberto Sandoval; Atty. Felito Ramirez at Atty. Rex Rico.
Aplikante rin para sa posisyon si Davao Regional Trial Court Judge Carlos Espero pero hindi na siya sasalang sa panel interview ng JBC dahil may bisa pa ang huling panayam sa kanya noong June 14, 2018 nung siya ay nag-aply para sa posisyon ng Supreme Court Associate Justice.
Ang mapipili na bagong Ombudsman ang magiging kapalit ni Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales na magreretiro sa July 26, 2018.
