‘The Band’s Visit’ humakot ng award sa Tony Awards
Hinakot ng musical na ‘The Band’s Visit’ ang karamihan sa mga awards sa katatapos lamang na Tony Awards na ginanap kahapon sa Radio City Music Hall sa New York City.
Inuwi ng naturang musical ang 10 awards, partikular ang Best Musical, Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical, Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical, Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score Written for the Theatre, Best Lighting Design in a Musical, Best Sound Design of a Musical, Best Direction of a Musical, at Best Orchestrations.
Para naman sa straight play category, ang ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ ang humakot ng anim na parangal. Ito ay ang Best Play, Best Scenic Design in a Play, Best Costume Design in a Play, Best Lighting Design in a Play, Best Sound Design of a Play, at Best Direction of a Play.
Inuwi naman ng Hollywood actor na mas kilala sa kanyang pagganap bilang Peter Parker sa pelikulang Spider na si Andrew Garfield ang award na Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play. Ito ay para sa kanyang pagganap bilang Prior Walter sa ‘Angels in America.’
Hindi rin nagpahuli ang multi-Tony Award winner na si Nathan Lane matapos niyang iuwi ang Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Play para sa kanyang pagganap bilang Roy Cohn sa ‘Angels in America.’
Samantala, natanggap naman ng musical na ‘Once on This Island’ ang Best Revival of a Musical award. Kabilang sa cast ng naturang musical ang Pinay Tony at Olivier Award winner na si Lea Salonga.
