UN expert ‘misinformed’ kaugnay sa kasi ni CJ Sereno ayon sa Malakanyang
Misinformed umano si Diego Garcia-Sayan, UN Special Rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers kaugnay sa kaso ni dating Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.
Reaksyon ito ng Malakanyang kasunod ng pahayag ni Garcia-Sayan na ang pagkakapatalsik kay Sereno sa pwesto ay mayroong ‘chilling effect’ sa hudikatura.
Ayon kay Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque ang pagka-disgusto ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte kay Sereno ay hindi pag-atake sa hudikatura o paghahamon sa judicial independence.
Sinabi ni Roque na nagbigay reaksyon lang ang pangulo sa pahayag ng dating punong mahistrado sa maraming public forum na si Duterte ang nasa likod ng impeachment at quo warranto petition laban sa knaiya.
Iginiit ni Roque na inirerespeto ng ehekutibo ang pagkakaroon ng separation of powers ng tatlong sangay ng gobyerno.
Maliban dito, mismong ang Mataas na Hukuman aniya ang nag-apruba sa quo warranto petition laban kay Sereno.
Ibig sabihin, mismong ang mga kasamahan niya sa Supreme Court ang nagtanggal sa kaniya sa pwesto.
