Bagong ayos na Virac Airport pinasinayaan ng DOTr at CAAP
Pinasinayaan na ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) at Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) ang bagong ayos na passenger terminal building (PTB) sa Virac Airport.
Pinangunahan nina Transportation Secretary Arthur P. Tugade, DOTr Undersecretary for Aviation and Airports Manuel Antonio Tamayo, at CAAP Director General Jim Sydiongco ang inagurasyon.
Sinimulan ang konstruksyon para sa rehabilitasyon ng terminal noong January 2016 at kasama sa inayos ang lumang disenyo na ng passenger terminal building.
Ginastusan ng P39 million ang proyekto na ilang ulit ding nasuspinde bago tuluyang natapos.
Dahil sa rehabilitasyon, mula sa dating 100 passenger capacity ay tumaas ito sa 300 pasahero.
Pinalaki din ang ground floor at second floor ng pre-departure area at inayos ang arrival area sa ground floor.
Ang Virac Airport ang natatanging paliparan sa Catanduanes at nagsimula itong mag-operate para sa unang commercial flight noon pang 1947.
