Inihirit ng mga residente ng Boracay Island sa mga tumatakbong kandidato ng Barangay at Sangguniang Kabataan elections ang problema sa kalikasan at hanapbuhay sa lugar.
Sa mga isinagawang forum, sinabi ni Malay election officer Elma Cahilig na hiningan ng panig ng mga residente ang mga kandidato hinggil sa ipapatupad na total phaseout ng mga tricycle sa lugar.
Nakatakda aniyang palitan ito ng mga electronic-powered tricycle sa Setyembre.
Marami kasing residente ng lugar ang pumapasada ng tricycle bilang hanapbuhay.
Samantala, sinabi ni Cahilig na kakaunti lang ang makakaboto sa May 14 elections dahil maraming botante aniya ang pansamantalang umalis ng isla.
