“Unprecedented and nefarious”
Ganito inilarawan ng Human Rights Watch (HRW) ang pagpapatalsik ng Supreme Court (SC) kay dating Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.
Sa isang pahayag, sinabi ni HRW Asia Division researcher Carlos Conde na nasagasaan ng pagkakasibak ng SC kay Sereno kay democratic rule ng Pilipinas.
Giit ni Conde, si Sereno ang panibagong biktima ng humahabang listahan ng mga institusyon at indibidwal na sinisiraan ng administrasyong Duterte.
Magbubukas din aniya ito ng posibilidad na pagsibak sa iba pang opisyal ng gobyerno.
Napatalsik si Sereno matapos paburan ang quo warranto petition na inihain ni Solicitor General Jose Calida sa botong 8-6.
