P448M na pondo inilabas ng DBM para sa Boracay

Inilabas na ng Department of Budget and Management (DBM) ang P448 million na pondo na gagamitin ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) para matulungan ang mga manggagawa na apektado ng anim na buwang pagsasara ng Boracay island.

Ayon sa DBM, sasakupin ng nasabing pondo ang pagbibigay ng financial assistance sa 17,735 registered formal sector workers sa Malay, Aklan.

Gagamitin ng DOLE ang pondo para sa emergency employment, livelihood, at pagbibigay ng training programs sa mga apektadong manggagawa.

Hinugot ang pondo sa 2018 Contingent Fund sa ilalim ng national budget.

Batay sa General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2018 mayroong P13 billion na inilaan bilang Contingent Fund na maaring magamit sa mga bago o urgent projects o activities ng national government agencies at government-owned or controlled corporations basta’t aprubado ng pangulo.

Inilunsad na ng DOLE ang Boracay Emergency Employment Program (BEEP) nito.

Sa ilalim ng programa ang mga worker-beneficiaries ay makatatanggap ng 50 percent ng prevailing minimum wage rate sa rehiyon sa kasagsagan ng closure.
