Tinawag na ‘usurper’ ni Solicitor General Jose Calida si Chief Justice on-leave Maria Lourdes Sereno.
Sa post sa kanyang official twitter account kaugnay sa Araw ng Kagitingan sinabi ni Calida na ipaglalaban niya ang bansa laban kay Sereno na ginagamit ang posisyon bilang punong mahistrado.
Ayon kay Calida na habang ginugunita ng sambayanan ang kabayanihan ng mga sundalong Filipino na nakipaglaban sa mga dayuhan noong World War II ipinagdiriwang din ng bansa ang pagsasakripisyo ginagawa ngayon ng AFP at PNP upang protektahan ang bansa at ang mga mamamayan.
Pahayag nito, “As we pay homage to the Filipino soldiers who fought gallantly against foreign invaders during the second World War, we also celebrate the heroism of the current crop of Filipinos from the AFP and PNP as they continue to defend our country and its citizens.”
Ani pa nito, “Coincidentally, I will be defending the Republic tomorrow against Sereno, who usurps the office of the Chief Justice.”
Bukas sisimulan ng Supreme Court ang oral arguments sa quo warranto petition na inihain ni Calida.
Isasagawa ng oral argumnent sa Supreme Court sa Baguio City kasabay ng summer session ng mga mahistrado ganap na alas-dos ng hapon.
Inatasan ng SC enbanc si Sereno na personal sa humarap sa pagdinig upang sagutin ang mga alegasyon laban sa kanya.
Ang quo warranto petition laban kay Sereno ay upang kuwestyunin ang appointment nito bilang punong hukom matapos itong hindi magsumite ang kinakailangan Statement of Assets Liabilities and Networth o SALN noong nag-apply bilang Chief Justice.
