Unemployment rate sa Metro Manila, pinakamataas sa buong bansa – PSA
Lumalabas sa datos ng Philippine Statistics Authority na ang National Capital Region (NCR) ang may pinakamataas na unemployment rate sa buong bansa.
Sa January 2018 Labor Force Survey (LFS) ng Philippine Statistics Authority, nagtala ang NCR ng 7.8 percent na unemployment rate sa kabuuang 9, 142 na working population na may edad 15 taon pataas.
Sumunod naman sa ikalawa at ikatlong pwesto na may pinakamarami ang walang trabaho ay ang Ilocos Region at Calabarzon na may 6.7 percent.
Gayunman, sa kabuuan ay bumaba naman ang unemployment rate sa buong bansa.
Naitala ang 5.3 percent na unemployment rate na ayon sa National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) ay pinakamababang naitala sa kaparehong buwan sa nakalipas na dekada.
Iginiit ng NEDA na pasok ito sa target ng gobyerno na nakapaloob sa Philippine Development Plan (PDP) mula 2017-2022 sa 4.7 hanggang 5.3 percent.
Ayon naman kay Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto M. Pernia, sa kabila ng gumagandang datos na ito ay dapat maipagpatuloy ng gobyerno ang pagsulong sa pamumuhunan at produksyon na magbubunga ng mas marami pang oportunidad para sa mga mamamayan.
“But despite these encouraging numbers, the government must continue to raise investments and improve productivity, which in turn, will help boost the productive sectors of the economy and encourage the generation of higher quality employment opportunities,” ani Pernia.
