Alvarez: Sereno tagilid sa quo warranto petition
Naniniwala si House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez na kakatigan ng Supreme Court ang quo warranto petition na inihain ng Office of the Solicitor General laban kay Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.
Ayon kay Alvarez, legal at nararapat ang petisyong dahil ang kinukwestyon ay ang validity ng pagkakatalaga kay Sereno bilang Punong Mahistrado partikular ang hindi nito paghahain ng tamang Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Networth (SALN).
Hindi rin pabor si Alvarez sa na mag-inhibit ang pitong justices sa pagdinig sa quo warranto petition dahil trabaho anya ng mga ito na dinggin ang mga inihahaing petisyon.
Hindi rin anya ito magreresulta sa constitutional crisis lalo’t igagalang ng Kamara kung ano ang magiging desisyon ng Korte Suprema.
Siniguro naman ng pinuno ng Kamara na hindi maapektuhan ang isinasagawang impeachment sa Kamara ang inihaing quo warranto petition sa Supreme Court na kumukuwestyon sa validity ang appointment ni Sereno.
Ito ay dahil dalawang magkahiwalay na proseso ang impeachment at quo warranto petition.
