Mahigit 2,000 mga miyembro at tagasuporta ng NPA sumuko sa loob ng 2 buwan ayon sa AFP
Sa loob lamang ng dalawang buwan ay pumalo na sa 2,263 ang bilang ng mga miyembro at tagasuporta ng New People’s Army (NPA) na sumusuko sa pamahalaan.
Ayon kay Lt. Col. Emmanuel Garcia, hepe ng Public Affairs Office ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), ang dahilan ng pagdami ng mga sumukong NPA members at supporters ay dahil sa patuloy na focused military operations, intelligence efforts, civil military operations at re-integration effort at peace and development program ng militar at pulisya.
Karamihan sa mga sumuko ay galing sa Davao region kung nasaan din ang bulto ng pwersa ng NPA sa bansa.
Sa nasabing bilang, 600 ay mga regular na miyembro ng komunistang grupo habang ang 1,600 na iba pang sumuko ay mga tagasuporta.
Umaasa ang pamunuan ng AFP na mas dadami pa ang bilang ng mga susukong NPA members at supporters sa mga susunod na araw dahil sa hirap ng kanilang sitwasyon.
