3,000 OFWs na ang napauwi sa ilalim ng amnesty program ng Kuwait

Halos 3,000 distressed overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) na ang napauwi ng gobyerno mula nang ipatupad ng Kuwait ang amnesty program noong January 29.

Ngayong umaga, hindi bababa sa 40 OFWs mula Kuwait ang dumating sa bansa.

Ayon kay Hans Cacdac, administrator ng Overseas Workers Welfare Adminstration (OWWA), 2,500 OFWs sa Kuwait ang nakatakdang bigyan ng exit visa.

Gayunman, inaasahan na lolobo pa sa 3,000 hanggang 5,000 OFWs na maga-apply ng sa amnesty program ng Kuwait.

Aminado naman si Cacdac na posibleng hindi mapauuwi sa bansa ang lahat ng undocumented OFWs sa Kuwait sa ilalim ng amnesty program dahil mas ginugusto ng iba na manatili roon.

Magtatagal hanggang April 22 ang amnesty program ng Kuwait.
