Imbestigasyon ng BIR sa mga binayarang buwis ni Sereno tapos na
Natapos na ng Bureau of Internal Revenue ang imbestigasyong isinagawa sa tax payment ni Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.
Sa pagdinig ng House Justice Committee sinabi ni BIR Deputy Commissioner for Operation Atty. Arnell Guballa, na base sa kanilang imbestigasyon may nakita silang “discrepancies” sa income tax return ng punong mahistrado.
Gayunman, tumanggi si Guballa na ilahad sa komite ang resulta ng imbestigasyon.
Ito ayon kay Guballa ay dahil kailangan pa nila ng pahintulot mula sa Office of the President base sa itinatadhana ng National Internal Revenue Code upang isumite ito sa komite.
Nauna nang ipinag-utos ng komite sa BIR na imbestigahan ang ITR ni Sereno upang mabatid kung nagbayad ito ng tamang buwis partikukar sa mga kinita nito sa Piatco case.
Si Sereno ay nahaharap sa impeachment case at isa sa mga reklamong nakapaloob dito ay ang hindi niya paghahaiun ng Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Networth (SALN).
