Cedric Lee at dating misis nito, pinaaaresto ng CTA
Pinapa-aresto ng Court of Tax Appeals ang negosyanteng si Cedric Lee at dati nitong misis na si Judy Gutierrez kaugnay ng P194.47 million tax evasion case na inihain ng Department of Justice (DOJ).
Unang sumuko ang kapwa-akusado ng mag-asawa na si John k. Ong, ang Chief Operating Officer ng kumpanya ni Lee na Izumo Contractors Inc. pero pansamantala rin itong nakalaya matapos magpiyansa ng 80,000 pesos para sa four counts ng tax cases.
Sa promulgasyon noong September 16 na isinapubliko araw ng Lunes ay sinabi ng CTA na may probable cause para maglabas ng warrant of arrest laban sa akusado.
Nagtakda ang korte ng piyansa na 20,000 Pesos sa bawat isang akusado.
Four-counts ng tax cases ang kinakaharap ng kada isang akusado.
Nakasaad sa resolusyon ng doj na ang kumpanya ni Lee ay nag-underdeclare ng kita nito ng 1,602 percent mula 2006 hanggang 2009. “The manifest underdeclaration is more than tenfold…thus, a prima facie case thereby exists against all the respondents,” nakasaad sa DOJ resolution.
Una nang itinanggi ni Lee ang akusasyon sa katwiran na ang accountant ng kumpanya ang naghanda ng income tax return,pero itinuring ito ng DOJ na isang alibi lang.
“No amount of delegation to an accountant or bookkeeper would extenuate any responsible officer of a corporation from the commission of any violation arising from such delegated act,” dagdag ng DOJ.
