Peace talks sa NDFP, hindi pa pormal na tinatapos ng pangulo
Nilinaw ni Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Jesus Dureza na hindi pa tuluyang winawakasan ang peace talks sa pagitan ng pamahalaan at ng National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP).
Ayon kay Dureza, inanunsyo lamang ng pangulo ang kanselasyon ng peace talks, ngunit wala pang written cancellation na inilalabas ang pamahalaan kaya hindi pa ito maituturing na pormal.
Magiging pormal lang aniya ang kanselasyon ng peace talks kung tatapusin na rin ang Joint Agreement on Safety and Immunity Guarantees (JASIG).
Ito ang kasunduan sa pagitan ng gobyerno at ng NDFP na nagbibigay proteksyon sa mga rebelde na kasapi ng peace negotiations.
Matatandaang inanunsyo ni Pangulong Duterte ang peace talks sa NDFP dahil sa sunud-sunod na pag-atake ng New People’s Army (NPA) sa mga tauhan ng gobyerno at maging sa mga sibilyan.
Nanindigan ang pangulo na hindi niya itutuloy ang peace negotiations hangga’t hindi nagdedeklara ng ceasefire ang NDFP.
