‘Kapayapaan ng nabubuhay, hindi tulad sa patay’ – Duterte
“All of us want peace, not the peace of the dead, of course, but the peace of the living.”
Ito ang isa sa mga naging highlights ng halos dalawang oras na State of the Nation Address (SONA) ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte kahapon sa pagde-deklara niya ng unilateral ceasefire sa kampanya ng pamahalaan laban sa mga komunistang rebelde.
Ginawa ng pangulo ang hakbang na ito sa pag-asang matatapos na ang labanan sa pagitan ng mga tropa ng pamahalaan at ng magkaka-ugnay na Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), New People’s Army (NPA) at National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP).
Ayon kasi sa pangulo, mas lalo nang nagiging madugo ang hindi matapos-tapos na gulong ito na tumagal na ng ilang dekada.
Giit ni Pangulong Duterte, nais ng mga tao ng kapayapaan hindi para sa mga namayapa na kundi para sa mga nabubuhay pa.
“That is why, I reach out to all of you today. To our Muslim brothers, let us end these centuries of mistrust and warfare. To the CPP/NPA/NDF, let us end these decades of ambuscades and bloody skirmishes. We are going nowhere. And it is getting bloodier by the day.
To immediately stop violence on the ground, restore peace in the communities and provide an enabling environment conducive to the resumption of the peace negotiations, I am now announcing a unilateral ceasefire with the CPP/NPA/NDF effective immediately. I expect and call on our fellow Filipinos in the National Democratic Front and its forces to respond accordingly.” Pahayag ng Pangulo sa kanyang SONA.
Umaasa si Duterte na ang NDFP ay susunod at makikiisa sa pagsu-sulong ng kapayapaan bago matapos ang kaniyang anim na taong termino.
