Hamon na boykot ni Duterte, hindi kinagat ng NUJP
Ibinasura ng isang grupo ng mga mamamahayag ang hamon ni Incoming President Rodrigo Duterte na iboycott siya o huwag siyang bigyan ng coverage.
Ayon sa National Union of Journalists of the Philippine (NUJP), hindi bibitiwan ng mga mamamahayag ang kanilang tungkulin sa kabila ng hindi pagkaka-intindihan kay Duterte.
“As for your dare to boycott you, we are very sorry but we will not, cannot, indulge you. besides, it was not a call made by the Philippine Media, for while we may have our differences, as we have had with past Presidents, it has never occurred to us to abdicate our duty, which is to keep watch on government and help ensure it does right by the governed and to scrutinize and ask the hard questions,” pahayag ng NUJP.
Sinabi pa ng NUJP na hindi naman local media kundi ang international media group na Reporters Without Borders ang nanawagan na iboycott si Duterte kaugnay ng justification nito sa media killing dahil sa tiwaling mga mamamahayag.
Aminado naman ang NUJP na may kurapsyon sa pamamahayag pero nanindigan ang grupo na hindi ito katwiran para sa media killings.
Tama rin anila si Duterte na wala sa kapangyarihan nito na protektahan ang bawat isang mamamahayag pero inaasahan ng NUJP na hindi hahayaan ng gobyerno na hindi mabigyan ng hustisya ang pagpatay sa miyembro ng media.
