P118M na halaga ng smuggled na Thai rice, nakumpiska sa Maynila
Nasabat ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) ang aabot sa P118 milyong halaga ng smuggled na Thai rice sa Manila International Container Port (MICP).
Ang nasabat na mga Thai rice ay naka-consign sa Calumpit Multi-Purpose Cooperative.
Ayon kay Customs Commissioner Alberto Lina, agad na nagpalabas ng warrant of seizure and detention sa rice importation na ito dahil sa paglabag sa Section 2530 ng Tariff and Customs Code of the Philippines.
Wala umanong permit mula sa National Food Authority (NFA) ang importasyon ng mga nasabat na bigas.
Ang mga smuggled na bigas ay pinasasalang sa auction proceedings ng MICP officials.
