Kasong graft laban kay Sereno ipinasa na sa Ombudsman
Ibinigay na sa Office of the Ombudsman ang mga kasong graft na inihain laban kay dating Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno para sumailalim sa preliminary investigation.
Ito ay ayon mismo kay Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra at sinabing ang Ombudsman ang nagsasagawa ng imbestigasyon sa mga kasong graft.
Ang graft cases laban kay Sereno ay inihain ng abogadong si Larry Gadon noong Enero.
Si Gadon din ang naghain ng impeachment complaint kay Sereno sa Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso.
Gayunman, hindi umusad ang impeachment complaint matapos mapatalsik si Sereno sa pamamagitan ng quo warranto petition na inihain sa Korte Suprema.
Ayon kay Gadon, ang basehan ng kasong graft ay dahil sa kabiguan ni Sereno na maghain ng kanyang Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) sa loob ng 17 taon noong ito ay professor pa lamang ng University of the Philippines (UP) College of Law.
Dahil dito ay lumabag umano si Sereno sa RA 3019 o Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act at Republic Act 6713 o Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.
Ang imbestigasyon sa mga akusasyon ni Gadon ay hindi pa umuusad simula ng maihain ang mga kaso.
