Ayon sa Phivolcs, ang episentro ng lindol ay sa layong 24 kilometro Kanluran ng Laoag City.
May lalim itong 20 kilometro at tectonic ang dahilan.
Hindi naman inaasahan ang pinsala sa mga ari-arian at kasunod pang mga pagyanig.
