Justice Marvic Leonen hindi interesadong maging chief justice
Tinanggihan ni Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen ang nominasyon niya para maging susunod na punong mahistrado ng Korte Suprema.
Sa liham na isinumite nito sa Judicial and Bar Council na may petsang July 26, 2018, tumanggi ito sa nominasyon ni retired Sandiganbayan Justice Raoul Victorino para pumalit sa pinatalsik na si dating Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.
Una nang sinabi ni Leonen na ipinauubaya na niya ang nasabing posisyon sa mga pinaka senior na associate justice ng Supreme Court.
Si Leonen ang pang walo na pinaka senior na mahistrado ng Mataas na Hukuman.
Una nang tinanggap nina Associate Justices Diosdado Peralta, Andres Reyes Jr, Lucas Bersamin at Teresita De Castro ang nominasyon bilang chief justice.
Ngayon ang huling araw ng pagtanggap ng JBC ng nominasyon para sa posisyong iniwan ng pinatalsik na si Sereno.
