Sa gitna ng paghingi ng permiso ng ilang pari na magbitbit ng armas, nanindigan ang Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) na tutol pa rin ito sa pag-aarmas sa mga pari.
Ipinahayag ni CBCP executive secretary Father Jerome Secillano na dapat irespeto ng mga pari ang posisyon ng mga obispo sa usapin.
Iginiit ng CBCP na bilang alagad ng Diyos, dapat harapin ng mga pari ang mga pagsubok at mga panganib sa buhay.
Noong Miyerkules, ipinahayag ni Philippine National Police chief Director General Oscar Albayalde na tinatayang nasa 250 pari ang humiling ng permiso na magbitbit ng armas.
