Articles of impeachment kontra Sereno iaakyat sa Senado sa Mayo
Naniniwala si House Justice Committee Chairman at Oriental Mindoro Rep. Reynaldo Umali na posibleng maiakyat na sa Senate impeachment court ang articles of impeachment laban kay Chief Justice on-leave Maria Lourdes Sereno sa pagbabalik ng kanilang sesyon sa Mayo.
Ayon kay Umali, pagkatapos ng Lenten break ng Kamara maaring matalakay na sa plenaryo ang committee report ng kanyang komite kung saan nakapaloob ang articles of impeachment.
Kampante naman din ang kongresista na wala nang magiging problema kapag napagbotohan na nila ito sa plenaryo.
Sa pagtatapos ng kanilang sesyon kahapon bago ang Lenten break ng Kamara, nai-refer na sa Committee on Rules ang commitee report kung saan mayroon sampung session days ang komite para ito pag-aralan at iakyat sa plenaryo.
Sa 27 alegasyon ni Atty. Larry Gadon, umaabot sa 24 ang ginamit ng komite na basehan para sa mga grounds ng impeachment kay Sereno.
Kabilang sa mga grounds for impeachment ang culpable violation of the Constitution, betrayal of public trust, corruption at other high crimes.
Anim naman ang articles of impeachment na inaprubahan ng komite na dadalhin sa plenaryo upang pagbotohan.
