OSG pinasasagot ng SC sa naging komento ni Sereno sa quo warranto petition
Binigyan ng Korte Suprema ng limang araw ang Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) para sagutin ang komento ng kampo ni Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno sa quo warranto petition nito.
Ang direktiba ay ginawa sa en banc session kanina kung saan tinalakay ang petisyon ng OSG na hinihiling na ideklara na imbalido ang appointment ni Sereno noong 2012.
Kahapon, nagsumite ng kasagutan ang mga abogago ni Sereno sa petisyon ng Solgen kung saan iginiit ng Punong Mahistrado na maaari lamang siyang matanggal sa posisyon sa pamamagitan ng impeachment.
Nanindigan din si Sereno na hindi na dapat ito pag-aksyahan ng panahon ng Supreme Court dahil base sa rules of court lampas na ito sa prescriptive period.
Una rito, humirit si Solicitor General Jose Calida sa SC na ipawalang saysay ang pagkakatalaga bilang Chief Justice kay Sereno dahil sa hindi nito pagsusumite ng kumpletong statement of assets and liabilities na isa sa pangunahing requirement sa nasabing posisyon.
