300 establisyimiento sa Boracay, ipasasara na ng DENR

Magsisimula na ang crackdown ng gobyerno laban sa mga establisyimento na dahilan ng polusyon sa Boracay.

Ayon kay Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Roy Cimatu, ipinag-utos niya na ang paglalabas ng closure orders laban sa 300 establisyimento sa Boracay na nadiskubreng hindi sumusunod sa mga environmental laws.

Ito ay makaraang ipahayag ni Pangulong Duterte na nais niyang malinis ang isla sa loob lamang ng anim na buwan.

Ayon kay Cimatu, naipag-utos niya na sa direktor ng DENR Regional Office 6 ang pagsisilbi sa mga ‘notice of violation’ ng mga pasaway na establisyimento.

“I already issued an order for the concerned official to start serving the notices to these establishments and then follow due process. Our environment office in the area is in charge of checking those that are connected to the main sewer lines and those that failed to comply with environmental laws,” ani Cimatu.

Iginiit ng kalihim na ilan sa mga establisyimento sa Boracay ay hindi nakakonekta sa mga sewage treatment facilities at basta-basta na lamang inilalabas ang kanilang mga dumi at ‘wastewater’ sa kapaligiran ng Boracay.

Nakikipag-ugnayan na rin anya ang DENR sa Department of Tourism upang alamin ang mga establisyimento na nakakonekta sa drainage system ng Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authorit.

Ayon kay DENR Undersecretary Jonas Leones ang pagkonekta ng mga establisyimento sa nasabing drainage ay iligal at nagreresulta upang umapaw ang tubig sa system pipes at mapunta direkta sa katubigan ng Boraacay.

Dagdag pa niya, ang mga naturang drainage pipes ay kaya lamang maka-accommodate ng tubig ulan.

Ayon kay Leones, ang lahat ng establisyimento sa Boracay ay dapat nakakonekta sa Boracay Island Water Company’s sewage treatment plant.
