Pagbuwag sa Bureau of Customs isinusulong sa Kamara

Inihain na ni Deputy Speaker Fredenil Castro sa Kamara ang panukalang batas para buwagin na Bureau of Customs.

Base sa House Bill 7126, nais ni Castro na palitan ang BOC ng Customs Development Authority o CDA.

Sa ilalim ng panukala, pangungunahan ng secretary of finance ang board of directors ng CDA bilang chairperson.

Magkakaroon din ng isang General Manager bilang vice chairperson, kasama rin ang commissioner ng Internal Revenue, Director General ng NEDA, kalihim ng DTI, DPWH, DENR at isang representative ng pribadong sektor na itatalaga ng pangulo

Maari namang mag outsource o isapribado ang ilang administrative functions ng CDA pero kailangan pa rin na dumaan sa proseso ng public bidding.

Paliwanag ni Castro, bagaman malaki ang naiaambag ng BOC sa economic development at progreso ng bansa, talamak at naging bahagi na ng kultura ng ahensya ang kurapsyon.

Sa pamamagitan rin anya ng papalit sa BOC, maisusulong ang kumpetisyon at mahikayat rin ang partisipasyon ng pribadong sektor sa operasyon ng customs.
